2015-16 Wentz Research Grants

The Lew Wentz Foundation and Oklahoma State University provide support for the nationally recognized Wentz Research program. Each year, $4,500 one-year Wentz Research Grants are given to approximately forty undergraduates in addition to several $750 Wentz Semester Grants to conduct independent research with the guidance of a faculty mentor in any field of study (major).  Attend today’s Wentz Research Information Session to learn more:

Student Eligibility Requirements

To receive a Wentz Research Grant, you must…

  • be classified as an undergraduate at Oklahoma State University's Stillwater or Tulsa campus,
  • have completed a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours at Oklahoma State University, and
  • achieved a 3.00 minimum grade-point-average (GPA).

NoteStudents must meet these minimum eligibility requirements at the time of application and for the duration of the award year. Those classified as graduate students, in 3-2 programs, or in Veterinary Medicine are NOT eligible to apply. Also, please note that only one Wentz Award (Research, Leadership or Non-Traditional) per year, per student is allowed.

Faculty Mentor Requirement

To receive a Wentz Research Grant, you must arrange a faculty member to supervise your project.  ONLY TENURED OR TENURE-TRACK FACULTY at the OSU-Stillwater or Tulsa campuses are eligible to mentor Wentz projects.   

Proposal Guidelines

To receive a Wentz Research Grant, you must submit an original research proposal that...

  • was conceived and written by you (the student),
  • can be achieve meaningful results within one academic-year (fall and spring semester),
  • explains the "what" (the question your project attempts to answer), "how" (the strategy you'll employ to answer the question), "why" (the reason an answer is needed to your question and how your results will answer it), and
  • is one (1) single-spaced page in 10+ point font, including figures (diagrams, graphs/charts, images, etc.).
