INTRODUCTORY MEETING | TBD

All current Freshman Research Scholars will gather to socialize and learn about important program requirements and guidelines.  Former FRS will share their experiences with undergraduate research and offer strategies for successfully conducting projects.  College groups will break out to meet with their coordinators.

This is a mandatory event for all FRS scholarship recipients.

WENTZ RESEARCH INFO. SESSION | TBD

The Wentz Research Grant program has been making a big difference in OSU students’ academic and professional lives for many years and is nationally known as a model of undergraduate research excellence.  This year the Henry Bellmon Office of Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research is hosting a discussion on how to prepare an effective application for this competitive program, which offers $4,500 and $750 awards to undergraduates in ALL MAJORS to design and implement a research project with the guidance of a faculty mentor.

This is a mandatory event for all FRS scholarship recipients.

ETHICS SEMINAR | TBD

Ethics is of critical importance to the proper performance of research.  We will discuss several aspects of the responsible conduct of research and institutional compliance.

This is a mandatory event for all FRS scholarship recipients.

PROGRESS REPORT DEADLINE | Friday, Nov. 18, 2016

MENTOR AGREEMENT DEADLINE | Friday, Dec. 2, 2016

To remain eligible for the program scholarship, all current Freshman Research Scholars are required to submit the Progress Report, which describes their activities during the fall semester and explains their plans for the spring.  Faculty mentoring FRS projects must confirm the arrangement by submitting the Mentor Agreement.

MENTOR ORIENTATION AND WORKSHOP | TBD

The Freshman Research Scholar Faculty Mentors will join their new mentees to learn about program requirements, expectations and best practices in supervising undergraduate research.

This is a mandatory event for all FRS scholarship recipients.


RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS SEMINAR | TBD

The Henry Bellmon Office of Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research is hosting a seminar on making effective research presentations, which will prepare you to present your research at the Scholar Development Symposium.  You may benefit from browsing the previous year's poster presentations: 2015 Scholar Development Symposium Archive.

SCHOLAR DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM | Friday, April 21, 2017

All current Freshman Research Scholars will present the results of their research experience at the symposum.

PROGRAM EVALUATION DEADLINE | Friday, Apr. 28, 2017

To remain eligible for the program scholarship, all current Freshman Research Scholars are required to submit the Program Evaluation.
